1 In memory of Col. James Monroe. Died September 7, 1870; Death of Col. JAS. Monroe; Col. James Monroe; The Funeral.
New York 1870 Hardcover Fair Hardcover 12mo 7" - 7
A perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete and sturdy. Brown, cloth cover exhibits shelf- and edge wear, bumping to spine head and foot, as well as bruised tips, but has title neatly rendered in gilt. Breakage to spine at front and rear paste-down. Front and rear pastedowns are bright yellow, although smudged. Rest of front and rear end-papers also exhibit smudging. Gilt edging still shiny at all edges of pages and text, although exhibiting some mild foxing here and there, is in very good shape. Text divided into three sections, first being entitled Death of Col. JAS. Monroe, and was contributed by the Army and Navy Journal by General George W. Cullum; the second entitled Col. James Monroe was contributed to the New York Evening Post by John H. Gourlie; and the final section, simply titled The Funeral, has no author given. An incredibly interesting and unique copy of this memoriam about a Union colonel, born in Virginia. 43 pp. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
