The Form of Government, the Discipline, and the Directory for Worship, of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America
9 The Form of Government, the Discipline, and the Directory for Worship, of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America
Philadelphia, PA Presbyterian Board of Publication, Hardcover Good No Dust Jacket Hardcover 16mo 6" - 7" tall
Purplish-grey cloth binding with embossed designs on both covers, gold lettering and decorations on spine. Binding is lightly scuffed on its faces and a little rubbed at its edges, especially at its spine bottom and at the bottom outside corners of both covers, where the underlying boards are just starting to show through. Page block edges are a little darkened, and there are a few scattered spots of foxing on the text pages. Binding is tight and square; pages are unmarked except for an owner's name and a gift inscription in pencil on the front free endpaper. The Form of Government and Directory are both said to be "as amended by the General Assembly in May, 1821," but binding appears to be at least mid-nineteenth century. This is a thin book but it is paginated 401-531, so it was likely part of a longer work. An early but undated Presbyterian discipline, in presentable condition. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
