Clean, tight, and unmarked, with only slight wear to the boards. Dust jacket bright on front panel; toned (but legible) at the spine, with minor chipping to the head of the spine and corners. Steinbeck's first book, a historical novel about Pirate Henry Morgan.

609 p. A tidy and sturdy little copy, protected by slip-case. Bottom rear tip bumped a bit, bottom front tip scuffed slightly. Spine at top and bottom bumped a bit, and the spine is rubbed a bit. Slip-case shows signs of shelf-wear only, mostly slight sunning. 3/4 Red boards with non-raised band on spine. First 33 and final ~20 pages are evenly age-toned, but remaining pages are remarkably clean and bright, if here and there a tiny bit wavy. Overall, an attractive copy.
