285 p. Very sturdy, very attractive copy, not ex-library (but with previous owner's ink-stamp on inside free end-paper), with index, cloth over boards. Blurb from remaining portion of dust jacket says that Chesterton uses Chaucer "as an excuse for talking about practically everything else." Neat and tidy paste-downs, too.

403 p. This is a copy of the true first edition, preceding by a matter of weeks the release of the English edition, which was published by means of the American sheets. A fairly scarce novel by Chesterton. Rich red boards frayed at corners, top and bottom. Gold-lettered cover still clear, but spine shows rubbing. Boards beginning to separate from spine, but still intact. Some waving to pages, first free page chipped. Hinges intact but beginning to separate. Needs to be handled carefully. Pages are, however, still clean and bright, given their age.
