This is an incomplete set of three of the volumes from a multi-volume work, attractive, with soft-brown boards in very good condition. Text is remarkably clear, and there is no highlighting or underlining anyway. Spines are worn and rubbed. First volume has a tissue guard opposite the frontispiece, an arresting likeness of Hoffmann. Published probably around 1900, the first volume is preceded by a lengthy introduction by Schweizer, and then a facsimile reprint of a letter from Hoffmann from 1816 opens this first volume.
