Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound, internally clean hardcover copy, with unbruised tips, neat and tidy paste-downs; not ex-library, with neither highlighting nor underlining. An apparent First Edition, with copyright stated to be 1873, but published in 1874 by James R. Osgood and Company in Boston. Tissue-guarded portrait at frontis. Beautifully designed green cloth covers, with gilt lettering and illustration to cover and spine. Slight forward cock to spine. Bumping to spine head and foot. Previous owner's inscription, neatly rendered in pen, but interestingly, dated to 1869. 271 pp. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.

Hinges cracked but still holding; apparent coffee staining to beginning approximately 20 pages, readability unaffected; minor soil to a few scattered margins. Text unmarked. 279 pp, plus ads. Slight torque to spine of one volume, else tightly bound and internally clean. Moderate bumping to and fraying of spine head and feet, bruising of tips. Gilt top-stained to both volumes.
